Terms of use

Please read this agreement. By installing or using Yosh Compressor ("Yosh") you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not install or use Yosh.

1. Who we are

Yosh is made and published by RobinWare ("we", "us"). You can reach us at admin@robinbawss.com or through https://yoshit.robinbawss.com/support

2. Your licence

We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Yosh on any number of devices you own or control, for personal, educational and commercial purposes. You may share the unmodified installer, exactly as downloaded from https://yoshit.robinbawss.com/, with other people, free of charge, provided this agreement stays with it. Yosh is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights in Yosh that are not expressly granted here.

3. What you may not do

You may not (a) sell, rent or charge for Yosh, (b) change Yosh or remove its notices, (c) copy, decompile or reverse engineer Yosh, except where the law gives you that right and cannot be excluded, (d) use Yosh to break the law or to infringe the rights of others, or (e) present Yosh as your own. The .yosh file format is documented for the purpose of reading your own archives; nothing here stops you from writing your own software that reads archives you created.

4. Your files and your backups

Yosh compresses copies of your files and never deletes or changes your originals. Compression is lossless: extracting an archive gives back the same bytes, and every archive carries checksums so damage is detected instead of hidden. Even so, no software is perfect and storage can fail. Keep your original files until you have used "Test" on the archive, and keep backups of anything important. An archive that has been damaged by your disk, a download or another program may not be recoverable.

5. Updates

Yosh can check once a day for a newer version and install it quietly. You can switch this off in the setup, in Yosh's settings, or at any time. Updates are digitally signed by us; Yosh ignores anything that is not. Using a version delivered by an update means you accept the terms that come with it. We aim to keep every earlier version of the .yosh format readable in later versions.

6. Privacy

Yosh does not collect, upload or share your files, file names, or any personal data. It has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. The only network activity is the optional update check, which asks https://yoshit.robinbawss.com/api/update for the latest version number. As with any web request, our web server sees your IP address, the time of the request and the Yosh version, and keeps those in its ordinary server logs only as long as needed to run and secure the service. 7. No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, Yosh is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that Yosh will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will make any particular file smaller. Compression results depend on the files.

8. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profit, loss of business, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, Yosh. Our total liability for any other claim connected with Yosh is limited to GBP 50. Nothing in this agreement limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

9. Ending this agreement

You may stop at any time by uninstalling Yosh (Settings > Apps, or the Uninstall shortcut). We may end your licence if you break this agreement; you must then stop using Yosh and delete it. Sections 4, 7, 8 and 11 survive the end of this agreement.

10. Third-party software

The installer is built with NSIS (https://nsis.sourceforge.io), which is licensed under the zlib/libpng licence and includes LZMA compression code placed in the public domain.

11. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, but this does not take away any right you have, as a consumer, to bring a claim in the courts where you live.

12. Changes

We may update this agreement for legal or technical reasons. The current version is always at https://yoshit.robinbawss.com/terms. If a change matters to you, you can stop using Yosh and uninstall it.
